Iran’s ‘Douch’ to go on screen in Japanese

Iranian film ‘Douch’ has been selected to go on screen at Children's International Film Festival in Okinawa (KIFFO).

Directed by Amir Mashhadi-Abbas, the film will go on screen in Japanese language at Ryukyu Shimpo Hall on Saturday, February 8, 2020.

‘Douch’ tells the story of a 10-year-old boy, Gholamreza, who is looking for money to trade his old bicycle.

During his pursuit, he comes upon a contest that promises enough money for a new bicycle if he can manage to teach an illiterate person in the village how to read and write.

Gholamreza decides to take part in the contest, and his pupil is a grouchy 90-year-old woman with really poor eyesight and hearing, who does not want to learn anything.

The film has so far taken part at events such as the 59th Zlin International Festival for Children and Youth in the Czech Republic.

It also participated at the Kukuru Vision section of the 6th KIFFO and went on screen on December 18 and 19, 2019.

The KIFFO is a fest that allows the audiences feel the world through films and movies.

It aims international films that will resonate with the children of Okinawa.
