Check out iFilm exclusive report on the movie 'Red Nail Polish' directed by Seyyed-Jamal Seyyed-Hatami, produced by Kamran Majidi and starring Masoud Keramati.
Below is a transcription of the report's highlights.
iFilm: This movie is the first cinematic experience of Seyyed-Hatami. It’s a social drama and it’s about the relationship between parents and their children.
Seyyed-Hatami: Generally, when it comes to your first film, you have a concern that has gathered up during the past years. When you want to make your first film after many years, you go after your first concern.
iFilm: When we hear the name ‘Red Nail Polish’ we expect to see a movie about women. But is this film really about femals?
Seyyed-Hatami: ‘Red Nail Polish’ as its name conveys is a decorative girlish accessory. Our film is mostly for girls and in general it’s about women and their relationship with the society and their families. ‘Red Nail Polish’ can be considered as a symbol of hope, beauty and femininity, especially because it’s red.
iFilm: This movie is full of different locations and this has made the production very difficult.
Majidi: We had about 45 locations; it wasn’t like many other films in which to save money, they have limited locations. In fact, we had 45 locations in this film.
iFilm: Masoud Keramati, the veteran cinema, television and theater actor, also stars in this movie.
Keramati: Starring in ‘Red Nail Polish’ was proposed to me by the director, Seyyed-Jamal Seyyed-Hatami. Having read the screenplay, I realized the character that I was supposed to portray was a role that I hadn’t had before. I didn’t have such a role in my resume. It was interesting to me to portray such a role. I hope the audience likes it.
