Iranian doc ‘Asho’ to vie in US

Iranian documentary ‘Asho’ is to compete at the 17th Big Sky doc filmfest in the US.

Iranian documentary ‘Asho’ has been selected to compete at the 17th Big Sky International Film Festival in the US.

Directed by Jafar Najafi, the 30-minute doc narrates the story of a boy who herds a flock of sheep. The boy’s biggest dream is to become a Hollywood star. Asho is under the influence of the Hollywood films that his cousin brought him.

‘Asho’ has participated at several festivals and received many awards including a special mention at the 62nd edition of the International Leipzig Festival and the Best Film Award of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

The Big Sky festival aims to bring films from around the world to Montana. It allows the attendees to discuss the issues that matter.

The fest is slated for February 14-23, 2020.
