Big Sky to host Iran’s documentary ‘Asak’

Iranian documentary ‘Asak’ is to vie at the 17th Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in the US.

Iranian documentary ‘Asak’ is set to compete at the 17th Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in the United States.

Mahdi Zamanpour Kiasari’s film brings to three the number of Iranian documentaries which will vie at the event.

Asak means a small hand-mill in the local language of southern Iran.

The documentary is about an 80-year-old blind man, who makes money through manufacturing handicrafts from stones he picks from the mountains.

‘Asak’ won the best film award at the 20th International Golden Saffron Documentary Film Festival in Turkey.

Earlier reports said Mehrdad Oskouee’s ‘Sunless Shadows’ and ‘Asho’ by Jafar Najafi will compete in the Oscar-qualifying event.

The 17th edition of Big Sky Documentary Film Festival will be held in the city of Missoula on February 14-23.
