Best Children Film Badal Rahman Award goes to Iranian ‘Stammer’

The 18th edition of the Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh has honored Iranian feature ‘Stammer’.

The Bangladeshi event honored the Iranian title with its Best Children Film Badal Rahman Award.

Directed by Mohammad-Reza Haji-Gholami, the film narrates the story of a boy whose sister suffers from stammering.

The boy goes to a school that has only one class and the other students make fun of her sister for her speech disorder. So, he tries to help her to overcome the problem.

Following his teacher’s advice, the boy tries to buy some books to help his sister get over the stammer; but he faces some challenges that make the film appealing.

The 79-minute film has gone on screen at global events such as the 31st Vienna International Children's Film Festival in Austria and won honors such as several Golden Butterfly awards at the 31st International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Iran.

Since 1977, the Dhaka fest has been promoting a healthy culture in the film industry in Bangladesh with the main theme of “Better Film, Better Audience, Better Society.”

This 18th edition of the event was held on January 11-19, 2020.
