ifilm has interviewed the screenwriter and director Jalali, the production supervisor Hassan Najm, the actors Qassem Zare and Afshin Sangchap, as well as the actress Samaneh Nassri.
“This is a moving narrative on the aftermath events of the recent years in Afghanistan,” a short synopsis of the flick reads.
‘A Baby with Red Socks’ depicts the life of some Afghan refugees who are living in downtown Tehran.
Baharnaz, an Afghan refugee who is expecting a baby and her husband live in a brick-baking blast furnace. Their life gets more complicated after the baby’s birth.
The husband decides to deliver the baby to someone else to solve the situation, but Baharnaz refrains to deliver her daughter and runs away.
Besides Zare, Sangchap and Nassri, the cast list of the film includes Pantea Bahram, Amin Zendegani, Alireza Kamali, Mohammad Tavakkoli, Mohsen Azizi, Golahmad Hassanzadeh, and Amiryal Arjmand.
‘A Baby with Red Socks’ won the awards for best actress, best music score and best directing at the 2017 edition of the Mediterranean Film Festival Cannes in France.
