Abbas Amini to be on jury panel of Berlin Int’l Film Festival

Abbas Amini is to be part of international jury of the 70th Berlin Int’l Film Festival.

Award-winning filmmaker Abbas Amini is to be part of international jury of the 70th edition of the prestigious Berlin Film Festival.  

The other jury members for the Generation 14plus category of this year’s Berlin Film Festival includes South African writer and director Jenna Bass and Indian filmmaker Rima Das.  

Berlinale is one of the most sought-after international film festivals for filmmakers and film lovers. Amini returns as a jury member after his film ‘Hendi and Hormoz’, about an arranged marriage, went on screen at the Generation 14plus section in the previous editions of the festival.

The award ceremony for the Generation 14plus competition will take place on February 28.

Two Iranian feature films ‘White Winged Horse’ by Mahyar Mandegar and ‘Yalda, a Night for Forgiveness’ by Masud Bakhshi will be also screened in this section of Berlinale.

Ali Atshani’s ‘Selfie with Democracy’ is another Iranian film which will be showcased during the European Film Market (EFM), to be held on the sideline of the festival.

The 70th Berlin Film Festival will also screen ‘The Alien’ (‘Namo’) by Nader Saeivar in the Forum section and ‘The Kites’ by Seyyed Payam Hosseini in the Generation Kplus section of the event.

The festival will be held on February 20 - March 01, 2020.
