Two new films added to Fajr Film Festival lineup

Iranian films ‘Sh’ and ‘Spider’ are to participate at the 38th Fajr Film Festival.

Iranian feature films ‘Sh’ (Shin) and ‘Spider’ (Ankabout) are set to participate at the 38th edition of Fajr Film Festival which is currently underway in Iran’s capital, Tehran.

Meysam Kazzazi’s directorial debut ‘Sh’, which is produced by Iranian star Shahab Hosseini, and ‘Spider’, the second movie of Ebrahim Irajzad, will be screened at the Fajr’s out of competition section at the request of the film’s producers.

‘Sh’ and ‘Spider’ will be screened on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Earlier, the festival’s secretary Ebrahim Daroughazadeh told reporters that any movie that meets the rules of the Fajr Film Festival can receive a limited screening in Mellat Cineplex on the sidelines of the festival if its producer provides a written request for that.

The 38th edition of the festival kicked off on Saturday and will run until February 11 in Tehran.

The Fajr Film Festival coincides with the Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn) ceremonies across Iran, marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran every year.

The international version of the festival will be held in April 2020.
