Prominent Iranian director Homayoun Asadian discloses in an ifilm exclusive interview that his works mirror personal experiences in his own life.
“My films don’t necessarily depict what exactly has happened to me; they undergo some changes but they are the result of what I’ve already experienced,” the director said to ifilm, adding that, “Sometimes I sit and think about my past and realize that where I am now is the result of the choices I’ve made in the past.”
His latest feature film ‘A Special Day’, starring actors Mostafa Zamani and Farhad Aslani, competed in the main section of the 35th Fajr Film Festival earlier this year.
“The theme of ‘A Special Day’ is decision-making and choosing. This is what I think about every day; where I am now is the result of the choices I made about two years ago. So, my own experiences with a bit of change,” Asadian said.
Asadian is an Iranian director, screenwriter, assistant director and consultant. His professional directing began with the film ‘High School’, and he later helmed his first film ‘Bite’ in 1994. Since then he has written and produced several feature films.
