Iran doc on Kiarostami to attend Berlinale

Iranian feature film ‘Kiarostami and His Missing Cane’ has been set to attend the Berline International Film Festival.

Iranian feature film ‘Kiarostami and His Missing Cane’ has been set to attend the Berline International Film Festival.

Directed by Mahmoud-Reza Sani, the film which is on late Iranian mega-filmmaker will launch its international sail at the film market section of the 70th edition of Berlinale in Germany.

Elaheh Nobakht, the chief director of Eli Image Film Company will be representing the feature at the German event.

Produced by Behrouz Neshan, the piece depicts the late Abbas Kiarostami’s worldview and his perspective on life and cinema.

In the 90-minute documentary, Kiarostami is portrayed as a child who is exploring new games. As he says, cinema for him is like a game that allows him to go back to his childhood.

‘Kiarostami and His Missing Cane’ has so far attended a number of international events including the Salto Independent Film Festival in Uruguay, the Ethnographic Film Festival IntimaLente in Italy and the Euraisa International Film Festival in Kazakhstan.

Founded in 1951, the Berlin International Film Festival is one of the world’s leading film events which is annually held in Germany in February.
