Beloit filmfest in US hosting ‘Each Other’ from Iran

The 15th Beloit Int’l Film Festival in the US is hosting Iranian short animation ‘Each Other’.

The 15th edition of the Beloit International Film Festival (BIFF) in the US has been hosting Iranian short animation ‘Each Other’.

Directed by Sarah Tabibzadeh, the 16-minute animation has gone on the US screen on February 22 and will be screened once more on February 29.

The animate piece is about some people who are living with their personality layers, and they take them to “Layeromat” just like their clothes.

A young man who works in one of these “Layeromat” accidentally loses one of his layers.

Despite his long search, he couldn’t find it, but through an inner revolution during his searching, he reaches a new understanding of his being.

The short animation has taken part at the 10th ANIMAGE International Animation Festival of Pernambuco in Brazil and the 36th Tehran International Short Film Festival in Iran where it won the Special Jury Award.

Explaining her film, Tabibzadeh wrote “Voices Inside our heads are always speaking to us and this inevitable question, Which one am I? Which one is me? An Infinite number of “me”s are born throughout our lives. We nurture them, consume them, and unexpectedly lose some of them. But the voices inside us and our accompanying color do not turn off. It’s impossible to live without them on the path to find ourselves; we have to pass through turmoil, empathize with ourselves, and stay alive. Maybe somewhere we could move past this other one and make the same color and the same voice.”

The BIFF is a ten-day tribute to the power of film and the excitement of independent film from around the world, hosting more than 100 films, and meeting scores of filmmakers from the US, Europe, Asia and Latin America.

The BIFF celebrates filmmakers in all genres—features, documentaries, shorts— who enjoy the Beloit setting as much as the attendees do. The BIFF promises crowds of interested viewers filling venues, questioning them at the films, and stopping them on the street to talk about their shared passions and projects in independent filmmaking.

The 15th BIFF kicked off on February 21 and will run until March 1, 2020.
