He received the medal from French Ambassador to Tehran, Philippe Thiebaud, at the Embassy of France in Iran on Thursday.
Publishing a post on his social media page on Monday, Hosseini wrote “Whatever achievement I have accomplished in my professional career which has been full of ups and downs, I grant to every individual of my homeland; to those who hate me and to those who love me, because I love them one by one and my only wish is their greatness and pride”.
The Chevalier of the Legion of Honor, awarded by the French government, is one of the most desirable trophies in the world of art and culture.
Hosseini is the only actor in the Middle East who succeeded to win the Best Actor Award at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival in France and the Silver Bear Award at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival in Germany.
He is mostly famous for his roles in Asghar Farhadi’s movies ‘A Separation’ and ‘The Salesman’ which named him winner of the Palme d’Or for best actor.
