Iranian film ‘When the Moon was Full’ is to go on screen at the 2020 Habitat Int’l filmfest in India.

Iran’s award-winning film ‘When the Moon was Full’ has been selected to go on screen at the third edition of the Habitat International Film Festival (HIFF) in India.

Directed by Narges Abyar, The movie narrates the true love story of Abdul-Hamid Rigi, a member of the Jundallah terrorist group.

Rigi marries Faezeh Mansouri, a woman from Tehran. Faezeh is forced to leave her homeland along with her brother, Shahab, to live in Pakistan where they find themselves involved in the Jundallah rebel activities.

The Rigi brothers were arrested by Iranian security forces and were executed in 2010.

Elnaz Shakerdoust, Houtan Shakiba, Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee and Shabnam Moqaddami are among the cast of the film.

The movie was nominated in 13 categories at the 37th Fajr Film Festival and garnered six main Awards of the event, including Best Director, Best Film, Best Leading Actor (Shakiba), Best Leading Actress (Shakerdoust), Best Supporting Actress (Sadr-Orafaee), and Best Makeup (Iman Omidvari).

It also grabbed the Best Actress award for Shakerdoust, the Best Student Jury Film Award and the Grand Prize of the 2nd International Political Film Festival of Carcassonne in France.

The Indian HIFF aims to present the best films of 2019 & 2020.

The fest mostly selects the films that have won awards at international film festivals.

The third HIFF was slated for March 13-22, but according to the festival’s website “due to the continued uncertainty and concern around COVID-19 virus in New Delhi,” the event was rescheduled for May 21-31, 2020.
