Cannes Film Festival has declined having online ceremony.

Cannes Film Festival has declined having online ceremony.

In the event of the cancellation of the Cannes Film Festival, the Marché du Film, the Cannes Market that has been unfolding alongside the Festival since 1959, was supposed to go virtual. However, Cannes officials have announced that it is not going to happen.

The Marché du Film is one of the largest film markets in the world that acts as a meeting point for producers, distributors, sales agents and programmers.

Over 12,500 film industry professionals attend Cannes each year. Last year in 2019, the Marché had a record-breaking number of participants attending.

The Cannes International Film Festival is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, which previews new films of all genres, including documentaries from all around the world. Founded in 1946, the invitation-only festival is held annually (usually in May) at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.
