Iran-Netherlands center opens cultural week in Leiderdorp

Iran-Netherlands Trade and Cultural Center opens Iran’s cultural week in Leiderdorp.

Iran-Netherlands Trade and Cultural Center (INTCC) has opened Iran’s cultural week in the Dutch town of Leiderdorp.

The program, to go on until April 19 at the INTCC, includes a number of cultural activities and showcasing programs.

The inauguration ceremony of the event was held in presence of Ali-Reza Jahangiri, the Iranian Ambassador to the Netherlands, and Laila Driessen-Jansen, the mayor of Leiderdorp.

A number of ambassadors and diplomats from different countries including Iraq and Bangladesh, Dutch artists, Iranian expats and others interested in Iranian art and culture were also present at the ceremony.

Driessen-Jansen said such cultural activities can lead to get both Iranian and Dutch nations closer to each other.

She also stressed upon the role of art and culture as a connecting bridge of nations, adding various cultural programs held at the center further cement this bridge between the two countries.

The program includes a live performance of Iranian music, exhibition of miniatures, mosaic, potteries, Khatam (a Persian version of marquetry), metal fabrications and weaving, among others.

The cultural event was established by the private sector in September 2016 as the first of its kind in Europe and seeks to introduce and supply Iranian products, including handicrafts, furniture, carpet and potteries, in the Netherlands.
