Iran’s short animation ‘Greyish’ is to participate at the 15th European Independent Film Festival in France.

Iran’s short animation ‘Greyish’ is to participate at the ANIMAYO GRAN CANARIA 2020 in Spain.

Written and directed by Eqbal Shirzaee-Sani, the animation depicts the various stages in the life of an old man as a metaphor for other’s lives.

‘Greyish’ has taken part at several global events, including Italy’s Cartoon Club International Festival of Animation Cinema, Comics and Games, Canada’s Edmonton International Film Festival, the St. Louis International Film Festival in the US, the 15th European Independent Film Festival in France, the 2020 Crystal Palace International Film Festival in the UK, and the 12th Montevideo Fantastic Film Festival in Uruguay where it was nominated for Audience Choice Award for Best Short Film.

The ANIMAYO is an inspirational event that was born in 2006. It is an encounter with 3D, audiovisual environments, visual effects, video games, animation and virtual reality aimed at promoting creative development, in which international artists and creators transmit their knowledge through master classes that enhance audiovisual culture and that they become revealing, immersing the public in a positive motivation through their experiences, teachings and anecdotes.

The event is the first and only animated Spanish Festival being declared ‘Qualifying Festival’ for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the Oscars Academy Awards. The winners of Animayo will be eligible for consideration in the Animated Short Film category of the Academy Awards without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules.

The 15th edition of the ANIMAYO GRAN CANARIA has been slated for May 4-9, 2020.
