Netflix streams classics by late Iranian veteran auteur Abbas Kiarostami.

Netflix’s new MK2 Films deal has added late Iranian veteran auteur Abbas Kiarostami’s classic movies to service.

Netflix has penned a new deal with French-based MK2 Films Company that co-produces some movies every year and distributes a library of more than 600 movies, including many remastered versions of classics featuring Abbas Kiarostami, Charles Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and more.

The Netflix deal went operational on April 24. The new deal will bring a total of 50 classical movies to the streaming service.

Abbas Kiarostami has won many awards, including the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 for ‘Taste of Cherry’.

He is mostly known as a screenwriter, film editor, art director and producer as well as a poet, photographer, painter, illustrator, and graphic designer.

The veteran Iranian filmmaker who passed away on July 4, 2016, following a heart attack at the age of 76, was honored at more than 300 film events around the world.
