Sydney filmfest awards Iran’s ‘Pain is Mine’

Iran’s short doc ‘Pain is Mine’ wins award at the Sydney World filmfest in Australia.

Iranian short documentary ‘Pain is Mine’ has won an award at the Sydney World Film Festival in Australia.

Directed by Farshid Akhlaqi, the 12-minute short title has grabbed the Best Short Documentary award at the sixth edition of the Australian event.

The long-take flick depicts one day in the life of a senior lady who is addicted to pain killers. It all starts when she tries to break her habit and quit taking pills.

‘Pain is Mine’ has already attended several film events and has won a number of awards, including the Best Short Documentary award at the Los Angeles Documentary Film Festival, a Special Mention at the Cameraimage Film Festival in Poland, Overal Best Production at the Annual Graduate Film and Television (VCA) I Australia and the Best Experimental Film award at the Super Shorts London Film Festival in the UK.

The Sydney World Film Festival which is an annual event aims to introduce non-main-stream of local and global talents.

The event is after discovering and helping the emerging young talented artists to develop.

The festival holds each year early in the month of April. This year, however, the event changed its screening plan and held it online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Besides, according to media reports, the public screening for the 42 selected films will be postponed till the next year.
