Emmy Awards modifies admission rule

Primetime Emmy Awards in the US sets new rules regarding film selection.

The Primetime Emmy Awards in the US has set new rules regarding film selection.

The new sets of rules will enforce that the films that have been nominated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars) will no longer be eligible to be among the selections to compete for an Emmy. It will come into effect in the 2021 edition of the event and the ones that will proceed.

The new regulation has been triggered and issued due to the fact that ‘Free Solo’ which has been a TV documentary project has been awarded both by the Oscars and the Emmy.

Meanwhile, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has announced its support of the Oscars newly stated rule to accept feature films that have had online streaming instead of theatrical release over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Launched in 1949, the Primetime Emmy Awards aims to recognize and honor the bests of TV productions.

An Emmy Award, or simply Emmy, is an accolade that honors the best in the television industry, corresponding to the Academy Award.
