Iranian short ‘Untimely’ wins award at the IndieFEST Film Awards in the US.

Iranian short title ‘Untimely’ has garnered the Excellence award at the 11th edition of the IndieFEST Film Awards in the US.

Directed by Pouya Eshtehardi, ‘Untimely’ is about a young private, Hamin, doing his military service in a watchtower on the border of Iran and Pakistan.

Up in the watchtower, Hamin reviews the past years and the things that happened to him and his sister since their childhood.

Impatient for a day off to attend his sister’s wedding ceremony, he gets into a fight with his commander.

The cast list of ‘Untimely’ includes Iman Afshar, Shayan Afshar, Ayyoub Afshar, Mahsa Narouee, Ava Azarpira, and Mollabakhsh Raeesi.

The movie has taken part at some global events and received a number of awards, including best feature film and best editing awards at the 2019 Asian Cinematography Awards, best film, best director and best cinematography awards at the 5th Tokyo independent films celebration in Japan, as well as Best World Cinema Feature Award at the 24th Kansas CityFilmFest International in the US.

The IndieFEST “discovers and honors the achievements of filmmakers who produce high quality films and new media”, according to an online film submission platform.

The event’s primary goal is to serve filmmakers. It “strives to give talented directors, producers, actors, creative teams and new media creators the positive exposure and credibility they deserve”.

The 11th IndieFEST Film Awards was held on May 5, 2020.
