Iran’s ‘Violet’ to compete in Zurich

Iranian short ‘Violet’ is to vie at the Iranian Film Festival Zurich in Switzerland.

Iranian short title ‘Violet’ has been set to compete at the Iranian Film Festival Zurich (IFFZ) in Switzerland.

The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that Qasideh Golmakani’s short title will take part at the competition section of the sixth IFFZ.

“Just before the wedding ceremony, Azi notices that her sister’s marriage rings are lost. She tries to find a solution before the groom’s family finds out,” the plot’s summary reads.

Earlier reports said the Iranian short films ‘Dissect’, ‘Short Wave’ and ‘Pedovore’ will also vie at the festival.

The IFFZ defines itself as “a platform for presenting the Iranian culture and tradition and for building a bridge between different cultures by the means of the universal language of art – and especially the 7th art, cinema”, an online submission platform says.

The sixth IFFZ will take place online -- due to the coronavirus pandemic -- on May 28-June 3, 2020.
