Venice film festival to go ahead as planned

The 77th Venice Film Festival is to be held as scheduled despite coronavirus outbreak.

Veneto region’s governor, Luca Zaia, has announced that the 77th Venice Film Festival will be held as scheduled.

The event was previously scheduled for September 2-12, 2020 and it will be held without any change in the set date.

The festival has not published any official word about its plan yet.

Zaia said probably this edition of the festival will host fewer works because of the global coronavirus lockdown.

It was announced that Cate Blanchett would be president of the main competition jury at this year’s edition.

Italy announced its borders will be open to travelers from June 3 and movie theaters will reopen on June 15.

First organized in 1932, the Venice festival is the oldest film festival in the world.

Every year, the event hosts a number of the most successful actors and directors of our time.
