Iranians mark passing anniversary of Imam Khomeini

Once again, people of Iran have remembered their late leader Imam Khomeini and paid respect to him on the occasion of his 31st passing anniversary.

Every year, millions of people from different parts of Iran commemorate the anniversary of the late Imam Khomeini’s demise and form one of the most populated gatherings of the world.

But the 31st anniversary ceremonies have been held carefully this year due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Ayatollah Ruhollah Mousavi Khomeini, known as Imam Khomeini, is one of the most influential figures in Iran’s modern history.

He led Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution that resulted in the overthrow of the country’s last Shah.

Imam Khomeini passed away on June 3, 1989, at the age of 87.
