2020 Cannes Film Market to host Iran’s ‘A Hero’

Iranian director Asghar Farhadi is to make return to the Cannes filmfest with ‘A Hero’.

Two-time Oscar-winning Iranian director Asghar Farhadi has been set to make a return to the Cannes Film Festival with ‘A Hero’.

While the new project will launch shooting this summer, it has been planned to start international presale at the 2020 Cannes Film Market (the Marche du Film) in France.

The Memento Films International will be in charge of world sales for the film.

The film company will also release the flick in France.

Although the story for the new movie has been kept under wraps, it has been disclosed to the media that the film will be suspenseful just like Farhadi’s other works such as ‘A Separation’ and ‘The Salesman’.

‘A Hero’ marks a return to filmmaking in Iran for the acclaimed director after his project ‘Everybody Knows’ in Spain. It will be shot in the city of Shiraz.

Mohsen Tanabandeh and Amir Jadidi are the two stars whose presence in the new flick is definite.

Iranian acclaimed documentary ‘Sunless Shadows’ by Mehrdad Oskouee and Ebrahim Irajzad’s ‘Killer Spider’ are two other Iranian films to attend the Cannes Film Festival this year.

The Marché du Film is an annual event for the professionals in the film industry to connect.

Filmmakers, buyers, distributors and others come see the event as an opportunity to introduce their works and connect to each other.

The event will take place online on June 22-26, 2020.
