'Balance' by Barzan Rostami will represent Iran at the 2020 edition of the Southport which is going to be the event’s inaugural year.
'Balance' is an animated story about soldiers who sacrifice lives so that people may live in peace.
The animated piece attended various international screening events before, including 1st Adrian Int’l Film Festival in the US, 9th Kinolikbez Int’l Film Festival in Russia, Regina Int’l Film Festival and Awards in Canada, 2018 Full Bloom Film Festival (FBFF), 9th Ojai Film Festival, the 7th DC Web Fest in the US, 9th American Documentary and Animation Film Festival (AmDocs) in the US and 5th Grand Rapids Comic-Con Film Festival both in the US.
'Balance' has been lauded at 2018 edition of the LakeCity Int’l Film Festival in India as well as the Sarajevo Youth Film Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It has also grabbed nod for best short animation at Redline International Film Festival in Canada.
The festival is destined to become a significant annual event on the cultural calendar in the Northwest of England with the aim is to showcase the very best short films from around the world.
The opening edition of the film event was set for July 26-28, 2020 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival may occur online.
