Golden Globes postponed due to coronavirus

The 2021 Golden Globe Awards is postponed over the coronavirus pandemic.

The 2021 Golden Globe Awards has been postponed over the coronavirus pandemic.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association said on Monday that the ceremony was pushed back from early January to February 28, 2021, becoming the latest major awards shows to be affected by the pandemic.

"We are excited to announce the 78th annual Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday, February 28, 2021," the Golden Globes said in a tweet Monday.

The ceremony will be held on the originally scheduled date of the Oscars, which has been delayed by two months.

Just a week earlier, Hollywood decided to push back the 93rd Academy Awards to April 25 due to the coronavirus crisis.

The organizers of the 2021 edition of the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) ceremony also postponed the ceremony.

The next year’s edition of the BAFTA will take place on April 11, 2021, instead of February 14. The BAFTA is usually held two weeks before the Oscars.

The deadly virus first emerged in China in late 2019 and has now infected millions of people and killed many across the world.
