Iran-Turkey ‘Silenced Tree’ to attend Istanbul fest

Iranian-Turkish feature ‘Silenced Tree’ is to attend the Int’l Istanbul filmfest in Turkey.

Iranian-Turkish feature ‘Silenced Tree’ has been scheduled to attend the International Istanbul Film Festival in Turkey.

The film, that has been under the helm of Turkish director Faysal Soysal and co-produced by Soysal and Iranian filmmaker Ali Nouri-Oskouee, will be in competition at the 39th edition of the Turkish event.

‘Silenced Tree’ narrates the story of an author who seems to be losing his knack of writing as well as his marital life.

He gets obsessed with reviving a walnut tree in his father’s house where he faces bitter truth about his father’s past and his wife’s affair.

Later his encounter with his friend’s fiancé makes him write again and interestingly enough the tree blossoms.

Serdar Orçin, Sezin Akbaşoğulları, Kübra Kip, Ali Mert Yavuzcan, Şebnem Dilligil, and Rıza Akın are cast members of the flick.

The feature was originally named ‘Walnut Tree’ which later changed the title to ‘Silenced Tree’ because of Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian’s war-film which holds the same title.

Farabi Cinema Foundation and Balkon Film are the two companies that have been in charge of the film’s production.

The International Istanbul Film Festival was originally launched in 1982.

Later in 1984, it became an international film festival which is being held in April.

According to the timetable announced on the official website of the fest this year the International Istanbul Film Festival which was postponed over the coronavirus pandemic will take place on July 17-27, 2020.
