Iranian short ‘Driving Lessons’ to vie in the US

Iran’s short ‘Driving Lessons’ is to vie at the 2020 Macon Film Fest in the US.

Iranian short title ‘Driving Lessons’ has been selected to compete at the 15th edition of the Macon Film Festival in the US.

“Bahareh must have her traditional chauvinistic husband accompany her during driving lessons so that she and her instructor are not left together without a third party’s presence,” a synopsis for the film reads.

Directed by Marzieh Riahi, the film’s cast is comprised of Linda Kiani, Alireza Sanifar, Salar Khamseh, and Sanaz Mesbah.

Also written by Riahi, the short has previously competed at more than 60 global events, including the Tampere Film Festival in Finland, the Cartagena Film Festival in Colombia, the Tribeca Film Festival in the US, and the Edmonton International Film Festival in Canada.

The short grabbed more than 10 international awards, some of which are the Best Short Narrative award at the Through Women’s Eyes International Film Festival in the US, the Best Long Narrative award at the Annual Big Muddy Film Festival in the US and the jury’s special award at the Film Festival for Women's Rights in South Korea.

The Macon film festival celebrates independent films and promotes filmmaking for education, inspiration, and entertainment.

The four-day festival is scheduled for August 13-16, 2020.
