Shanghai Film Festival adds ‘I Am Here!’

The 2020 Shanghai Int'l Film Festival in China adds ‘I Am Here!’ to competition lineup.

The 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) in China has added one more Iranian title ‘I Am Here!’ to competition lineup.

Abbas Amini’s fiction drama joined the Iranian feature films scheduled to compete at the 2020 Shanghai film event.

‘I Am Here!’ is about an opposing worker who stands for his rights. Within the context of this daily drama, the worker has to choose between his social obligations and private life. He has no other choice but to affirm his presence and historical role, by stating, ‘I am here!’

The DreamLab Films is the international distributor of the film starring Afshin Hashemi and Shirin Esmaeeli.

Five other Iranian contenders at the festival include acclaimed Iranian feature film ‘Just 6.5’ by Saeed Roustaee, ‘Crab’ by Shiva Sadeq-Asadi, Kazem Mollaee’s ‘The Badger’, ‘Najibeh’ written and directed by Mostafa Gandomkar and Farnouosh Abedi’s 11-minute animation ‘Malakout’.

The SIFF is considered by many to be the second biggest film festival in Asia. The first edition of the festival was held from October 7 to 14, 1993.

Due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, the 23rd Shanghai Int’l Film Festival, originally scheduled to take place between June 13 to 22, 2020, will be held both offline and online  from July 25 to August 2 in a bid to minimize the impact of the pandemic.
