Iran, India eager to develop media relations

Iranian and Indian officials meet in Tehran to boost mutual media cooperation.

Iranian and Indian officials have met in the Iranian capital to emphasize the need for developing joint media and communications cooperation between Tehran and New Delhi.

During the meeting in Tehran on Sunday, Iranian Deputy Culture Minister Hossein Entezami and a media delegation from India looked at ways to boost and strengthen media and communications relations.

Considering Iran-India relations during sanctions and post-sanction eras, Entezami said “Iranians will not disregard India’s help during the sanction era.”

The officials underlined the necessity to make use of Indian media for introducing Iran’s potentials to the region and the world.

Tehran would host a seminar to help expand Iran-India cultural ties, former Iranian Culture Minister Ali Jannati said earlier in April 2016.

Post-sanction Iran is now more than ever ready to enhance bilateral cooperation with India in all spheres, including culture, Jannati said during a meeting with Indian Ambassador to Tehran Saurabh Kumar.

He also added that India has a unique position in Iran’s foreign policy and Tehran’s top priority is to expand bilateral ties with New Delhi in the fields of politics, trade, science, as well as culture.

“The libraries of the two countries could also work together to republish old books and historical documents,” Kumar said for his part.

The Indian ambassador also noted that since Iran and India enjoy common cultural commonalities, including in language and literature, New Delhi is planning to offer Indian language courses at Iranian universities.

This is a good news. We love both Iranian and Indian movies, let alone joint productions.
