As announced by the organizers of the 24th edition of the AVANCA, the 93-minute film, at the helm of Hamed Tehrani, succeeded to win the Cinema Prize for Best Feature Film, Best Screenplay Award as well as the D. Quixote Award from FICC - International Federation of Film Clubs.
‘Diapason’, which competed at the main competition section of the event, is about a 50-year-old single working mom named Ra’ana who is living happily with her daughter Hoda until Hoda meets a sudden death in an accident.
‘Diapason’ is a social drama with the starring lead role of ‘Breath’ star Zhale Sameti.
Also included in the cast list of the film are Behnoush Bakhtiyari, Alireza Ostadi, Mehdi Hosseininia, Masoumeh Rahmani, Babak Nouri, Shadi Ganji, Mahsa Akbari, Sara Sarabi and Yekta Tabibi.
The flick has already contended at the 2020 Pune Int’l Film Festival (PIFF) in India, the 2020 Bengaluru Int’l Film Festival in India, the 25th Kolkata Independent Film Festival (KIFF) in India and the 24th Busan Int’l Film Festival in South Korea.
The list goes on with the 20th Geneva Int’l Independent Film Festival Black Movie, the 17th TOFIFEST International Film Festival in Poland and the 3rd Habitat Int’l Film Festival (HIFF) in India.
Founded in 1997, the Avanca Film Festival is known as a space for workshops led by personalities of world cinema.
According to the official website of the event, Avanca seeks to trace the perspective of contemporary cinema, television, video, and multimedia production.
The festival was held as a drive-in from July 17 to 26.
