Iran has set to inaugurate Farshchian University dedicated to the traditional arts and handicrafts in the capital city of Tehran.
The university proposal was offered several years ago by master of Persian painting and miniature Mahmoud Farshchian.
“Farshchian University will hopefully open in February 2017,” said head of the University of Science and Culture Mohammad Hussein Imani Khoshkhou.
While emphasizing the importance of handicrafts and traditional arts as a part of our cultural identity, Khoshkhou remarked that all these years, the traditional arts were deprived of attention due to a business-minded approach.
Born on January 24, 1930 in the city of Isfahan, Mahmoud Farshchian is a master of Persian painting and miniatures.
Farshchian is the founder of his own school in Iranian Painting, which adheres to classical form while making use of new techniques to broaden the scope of Iranian painting.
