The organizers of the festival’s 34th edition have announced that the whole event will go virtual, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
AFI FEST is an annual event that hosts more than 125 films in various categories of New Auteurs, Documentary, World Cinema, Cinema’s Legacy and Shorts.
According to the official website of the event, it is an Oscars-qualifying festival.
The festival was originally slated to launch in September, but instead it will have virtual screenings on October 15-22, 2020.
The American Film Institute’s another program, the AFI DOCS, which takes place annually in June, was also called off due to the pandemic.
