The 2020 International Ethnographic Film Festival (OKO) in Ukraine is to screen ‘Sarevo’.

‘Sarevo’, directed, written and produced by Mohammad Abdollahi, will participate in the International Short Film Competition section of the upcoming edition of the Ukrainian film event.

“The two borderline teenagers living near the Afghan border near the Loot Desert and the lagoon are trying to get a job and income so they can prevent migration and help Baluch peace and solidarity,” reads as a brief synopsis of the film put by OKO.

‘Sarevo’ features part of the daily life of people in Baluchestan region, as well as the customs of Baluchi marriage. The Baluchis are the ancient genuine Iranians who have their exclusive celebrations and traditions.

In talk with local media, Abdollahi said his documentary is “a small example of world peace that teaches us that in order to have peace we must respect each other's beliefs and put aside differences.”

OKO provides a showcase for ethnographic and anthropological documentary films. It is a place where filmmakers and ethnographs will be able to share ideas.

The latest edition of the OKO will be held on September 12-19, 2020.
