Spiritual moments cut from ‘The Green Journey’

ifilm series ‘The Green Journey’ pays tribute to Ashura.

Among the Iranian series and movies that have been made to highlight the importance of Ashura, ‘The Green Journey’ is one the most impressive.

Part of the show’s popularity is due to the fact that the main character of the show, a young grownup man, gets to evolve and expand his world by the new acquaintances he makes during his journey back to his motherland.

The story of the series begins with the German man, Daniel, coming back to Iran to look for his biological mother.

His green journey, however, turns into an exodus of self-discovery.

He gets to know God fearing people who put their trust in the almighty.

Despite the fact that these people are accomplished, they never waver to ask God for whatever they wish.

One of the people that Daniel makes acquaintance with is Haj Reza, a wealthy man who has always been a true believer.

The man has always held ceremonies during the month of Muharram to commemorate martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS).

He has always known that God grant his prayer requests.

In a scene from the show, Daniel catches Haj Reza desperately begging Allah and reciting some parts of Ziyarat Ashura, a salutatory prayer.

This comes from the belief that when you feel the most miserable, beyond help and desperate because of the situation you are stuck in, you just need to recite this prayer and feel it wholeheartedly and to rest assured that Allah will hear and answer your prayers.

As God says in the verse 60 of the Surah Ghafir (Also referred to as Surah Al Mu’min), the 40th chapter of the holy Quran, “Call upon Me; I will respond to you. Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible”.
