France to show int’l film starring Peyman Maadi

Latest int’l work of Peyman Maadi, ‘Police’, is to go on public screens in France.

France has scheduled to screen the movie ‘Police’, the latest international work starring Peyman Maadi, on September 2.

The film was premiered at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival in Germany in February 2020.

Directed by Anne Fontaine, the movie narrates the story of three police officers who have to return a Tajik immigrant to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and deport him to his country.

On the way to the airport, one of the officers finds out that the man’s life is in danger because if he goes back to his country he will be executed.

Finding out about the man’s fate, the three officers face a dilemma.

Maadi plays the role of the Tajik immigrant and the roles of the three officers are played by Omar Sy, Virginie Efira and Gregory Gadebois.

This is the seventh international work of Maadi after having roles in four movies, including ‘Camp X-Ray’ by Peter Sattler, ‘Last Knights’ by Kazuaki Kiriya, ‘13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi’ and ‘6 Underground’ by Michael Bay.

He also took part in two series; ‘The Night Of’ by Richard Price and ‘Westworld’ by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy.

Maadi started his film career as a screenwriter in the late 2000s.

He has written screenplay for several successful Iranian movies, including ‘Swan Song’, ‘Wedding Dinner’, ‘The Snow on the Pines’, and ‘Bomb a Love Story’.

He started his acting career in Asghar Farhadi’s ‘About Elly’.

Since then, he has been in a number of award-winning movies such as ‘A Separation’ which brought him the award for Best Actor in leading role at the Berlin International Film Festival in Germany.
