Iranian director Narges Abyar discusses gender in Iranian Cinema at a Spanish seminar.

Director of the acclaimed drama ‘Track 143’, Narges Abyar, has discussed gender in Iranian Cinema during a two-day seminar at the Completeness University in Madrid.

The seminar, which opened on Monday and is titled ‘Representaciones De Género En El Cine Irani’, hosts a number of Spanish scholars, the website of Iran’s Cultural Office in Madrid announced.

The movie ‘Track 143’ will go on screen alongside the seminar at the University of Salamanca located in the town of Salamanca, west of Madrid on May 10.

The Iranian director will also attend the university to hold a question and answer session after the screening.

Meanwhile, Carmen Perez, head of the communications college at the Completeness University, expressed appreciation for Iran’s cultural attaché in Madrid on the first day of the seminar and said holding such events is helpful for the students.

She highlighted the artistic activities of Iranian women and added, “Women have found a notable and impressive role in Iranian Cinema and could manifest their abilities even better than men.”

Perez also expressed admiration for Abyar as one of the successful women in Iranian Cinema.

Iran’s cultural attaché in Madrid, Alireza Esmaeili, for his part, talked about the high-profile status of art in Iranian society and noted that cinema is one of the most impressive forms of art in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The program is organized by two Spanish universities in cooperation with Iran’s Cultural Office in Madrid.
