Iran’s animated short film ‘Malakout’ grabs two awards at the 21st Izmir International Short Film Festival in Turkey.

Iran’s animated short film ‘Malakout’ has grabbed two awards at the 21st Izmir International Short Film Festival in Turkey.

Iranian news outlets reported on Thursday that ‘Malakout’ won the Best Short Film and Best Music awards in the Turkish event.

Directed by Farnoush Abedi, the film is about a pianist who tries to bring his wife back to life, but a related deal awakens the devil inside him.

“Music was his passion. Love was his masterpiece,” a synopsis for ‘Malakout’ reads.

Earlier reports said the film was also awarded at the 2020 Wolves Independent International Film Festival (WIIFF) in Lithuania.

‘Malakout’was also named the best short film in the Cryptshow Festival in Spain, and succeeded to garner two awards at the Florida Animation Festival of the US.

The animation also received an honorary diploma in the Silk Road International Film Festival in Ireland and the best animation award in the Black Country Horror Shorts Film Festival in the UK.

The Izmir International Short Film Festival is one of the most important short film festivals in Turkey.
