Berlin Kurdish filmfest to screen ‘The Other’

The Berlin Kurdish Film Festival in Germany is set to play host to acclaimed Iranian short film ‘The Other’.

Ako Zand-Karimi and Saman Hosseinpour’s short film will go on screen at the Short Film Competition program of the German fest’s 10th edition.

‘The Other’ narrates the story of a traditional man who suspects his dead wife of having an extra marital affair.

He goes from bad to worse when he suspects her daughter belonging to the other man.

The cast list of the flick includes Mohammad Potki, Mohammad Bidaq-Beigi, Asieh Moradizar, and Shiva Soufi-Mahmoudi.

The film has already participated in a number of global events and won awards, including the Best Silent Film award at the Venice Intercultural Film Festival in Italy and the Best Cinematography award at the Int’l Film and Music Festival Kustendorf in Serbia.

The Berlin Kurdish Film Festival brings together different cultures and gives room to artistic exchanges. According to the official website of the fest, it, “reflects the diversity of Kurdish society as well as Kurdish filmmaking and encourages exchange”. 

This year’s edition of the event is set for October 8-14.
