ifilm website has rounded up a number of photos from feature film ‘Mazar Sharif’ as an honorable representative of Iranian cinema, grabbing popular and critical acclaim.
Written and directed by Abdolhassan Barzideh, the 2015 film is about the Taliban raid on the Iranian Consulate in the Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif in 1998, which left a number of Iranian diplomats dead.
Taliban militants killed eight Iranian diplomats along with a correspondent of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) in the attack.
The movie ‘Mazar Sharif’ portrays the efforts of Mr. Shahson, the only diplomat who survived the attack, to return to Iran.
The film’s director once said that some of the 19-day adventures of Shahson were not portrayed in the movie in order to avoid accusations of exaggeration.
‘Mazar Sharif’ is starring Masoud Rayegan, Hossein Yari and Mahtab Keramati.
The flick won seven nominations and two awards for Best Original Music and Best Visual Effects at the 33rd edition of Fajr Film Festival in Iran
Here are some photos that will enable you to guess the difficult situation Mr. Shahson had to deal with.
