‘Are You Volleyball?!’ to go on screen at Nostalgia Film Festival

Iranian short film ‘Are You Volleyball?!’ is to go on screen at the 2020 Nostalgia Film Festival in Italy.

Mohammad Bakhshi’s short film ‘Are You Volleyball?!’ has been selected to go on screen at the 2nd Nostalgia Film Festival (Iranian Film Festival) in Italy.

The short film together with some other Iranian films will go on screen in an organized program called “Iranian Film Night”.

The film narrates the story of a group of Arabic-speaking asylum seekers who try to make their way to the border in an English speaking country.

They get into a conflict with border guards every day up until a deaf-mute child becomes a catalyst for better communication between the two sides.

The 15-minute film has so far won several awards: Best Film Prize from the Al-Nahj Film Festival in Iraq, Best Film and Best Screenplay awards at the Short Film Competition section at the US Forum on Law, Culture & Society, Best Film at the BCN Sports Film Festival in Spain, and Best Editor award at the Bucharest ShortCut Cinefest in Romania.

Launched in 2019, the Nostalgia Film Festival is the first independent Iranian film festival in the north of Italy. The festival aims to showcase short and feature films made by Iranians around the world.

The 2020 NFF was previously scheduled to be held on September 26-28, 2020. But, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the upcoming edition of the festival is postponed to the next year with date yet to be announced. Submission of films for the 2020 official selection is also open till the end of November.
