‘Saad’s Olive Tree’ to run at Milano Int’l FICTS Festival

‘Saad’s Olive Tree’ is to vie at the 2020 Milano Int’l FICTS Festival in Italy.

‘Saad’s Olive Tree’ short film has joined the Iranian lineup at the 2020 Milano International FICTS Festival in Italy.

Ahmed Zayeri’s ‘Saad’s Olive Tree’ and ‘Tsunami’ by Milad Sadrameli will be competing as Iran representatives at the 38th edition of the sports-themed festival, to be held in the Italian city of Milan from November 7 to 11.  

‘Saad’s Olive Tree’ narrates the story of a young boy, Saad, who is in love with football. Saad loses his eyes during a Daesh attack on Syria. Since then, he locks himself up at home and stops playing his favorite game and visiting his favorite olive tree.  

The flick has received several accolades worldwide, including the second prize for best director and the jury’s special mention for best film at the 14th Manchester Int’l Short Film Festival, Kinofilm Festival in the UK as well as the best short film award the 14th Kazan Int’l Festival of Muslim Cinema in Tatarstan.

It was also nominated for best dramatic short film award at the 13th edition of Taiwan International Children’s Film Festival.

The Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs (FICTS) is the organizer of the event, which was the final phase of the World FICTS Challenge that runs in 16 countries around the world including Iran.
