Iranian ‘Sun Children’ to go on screen in Brazil

The 2020 Sao Paulo Film Festival in Brazil is to screen Iran's ‘Sun Children’.

Majid Majidi’s movie ‘Sun Children’ has been selected to go on screen at the 44th edition of the Sao Paulo Film Festival (SPFF) in Brazil.

Written by Nima Javidi and jointly produced by Majidi and Amir Banan, the social drama focuses on labor kids.

Popular stars appearing in the flick are Javad Ezzati, Ali Nasiriyan, and Tannaz Tabatabaee.

The film was one of the winners of the Collateral Awards at the 77th edition of Venice International Film Festival in Italy -- which are independently awarded by associations of film critics, clubs and cultural associations, and cinema professionals, receiving the Lanterna Magica Award.

‘Sun Children’ also brought Rouhollah Zamani -- one of the teenagers who took part in the movie -- the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor at the Italian event.

Works of 13 Iranian cineastes are among the 198 films (from 71 countries) that will be screened at this edition.

‘When the Moon was Full’ by Narges Abyar, ‘Crows’ by Naqi Nemati, ‘Headless’ by Kaveh Sajjadi-Hosseini, and ‘Silent Snail’ by Behrang Dezfoulizadeh are among other Iranian films that will go on screen during the festival.

The SPFF is dedicated to the discovery and development of new artists. The festival supports and inspires independent short films from around the world.

The event will be held on October 22-November 4, 2020.
