Iranian doc ‘Nowruz in Tajikistan’ has been awarded at the Archaeology Channel International Film and Video Festival in the US.

Iranian doc ‘Nowruz in Tajikistan’ by Mehdi Bemani has been awarded for theme music at the Archaeology Channel International Film and Video Festival in the US.

The documentary produced by Iran Documentary and Experimental Film Center runs 30 minutes and the music was composed by Eqbal Zoqbeik.

Published description of the movie on TAC official website reads, “Tajikistan's biggest annual celebration is the spring festival of Nowruz, literally ‘New Day’. Nowruz marks the beginning of the Persian New Year, which starts at the spring equinox … For the Tajiks, Nowruz represents a festival of friendship and renewal of all living beings.”

“One tradition that has survived in Tajikistan is the gathering of wildflowers by children in the villages. They … walk around the village, knock on people’s doors and present them with a flower,” the post added.

Archaeology Channel International Film and Video Festival was held in Eugene, Oregon in the US from May 4 to 7.

Nowruz is the Iranian New Year celebration that begins on the first day of spring. It is observed in Iran, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and several other countries.
