Ojai filmfest audiences to have Iranian ‘Soup’ with sounds

The Ojai Film Festival in the US is to screen Iran’s ‘Soup’.

The 2020 edition of the Ojai Film Festival in the US has been scheduled to screen Iranian short flick ‘Soup’.

Adapted from a short story by avant-garde playwright, Eugene Ionesco, and directed and produced by Tiyam Yabandeh, the 10-minute flick will be shown at the 21st edition of the US event.

“An unhappy couple fights constantly, with far-reaching consequences for their children, their neighbors and society at large. Filmed entirely without dialogue, this innovative film relies on sound effects and the visually impactful metaphor of soup to convey the corrosive effects of unresolved anger,” the Ojai website wrote on the story of ‘Soup’.

The director has tried to deliver a different perspective of the argument between couples and their influences on the environment.

The sound effects and a visual language to transform inner and subjective violence of arguments into a visual experience are the main elements of the film.

Nader Fallah and Sogol Ghalatian are the cast members of ‘Soup’.

This year’s edition of the Ojai Film Festival, which will be held online due to the pandemic, is slated for November 6-15.
