The Ojai Film Festival in the US is to screen Iran’s ‘Born of the Earth’.

The 2020 edition of the Ojai Film Festival in the US has been scheduled to screen Iranian feature ‘Born of the Earth’.

Directed by Mojgan Bayat and produced by Mohammad Najibi, the 84-minute flick will be shown at the 21st edition of the US event on November 6 and 10.

‘Born of the Earth’ follows the story of a young refugee from war-torn Yemen, who is rescued by an Iranian sea captain and entrusted to a local family.

Under the care of Azerou and her parents, Abdou finds emotional sanctuary, experiencing affection and security for the first time in his young life.

When a terrible accident threatens Azerou’s life, Abdou will do anything to save the person who makes him feel loved.

Ebrahim Tamhid, Hoda Nourizadeh, Majid Feili, Fatemeh Dehqani, and Ali Tourbaneh have played the leading roles in Bayat’s film.

The film has previously won the Best Film and Best Director awards at Iran’s Isfahan Film Festival. It was also honored at the Roshd Film Festival in Iran.

Recently accepted into the 19th Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh, ‘Born of the Earth’ has lately won the Best First Filmmaker award at the Screen Power Film Festival of London in the UK.

This year’s edition of the Ojai Film Festival, which will be held online due to the pandemic, is slated for November 6-15.
