Iranian ‘Pass’ wins award at Spanish festival

Iranian ‘Pass’ wins award at the 2020 Evolution! Mallorca Int’l Film Festival in Spain.

Iranian short flick ‘Pass’ has grabbed the Best Short Film Screenplay award at the 9th Evolution! Mallorca International Film Festival (EMIFF) in Spain.

‘Pass’, Elika Abdollahi’s debut, has been screened at a number of film events, including the Marbella International Film Festival in Spain, the Concordia Film Festival in Canada, and the Asoric Film Festival and Tassvir Film Festival in Iran.

The cast list of the 11-minute film includes Mina Hamedani, Hessam Hosseini, Soheil Mirza, and Ebrahim Barzideh.

The 9th EMIFF selected ‘bridging cultures-bridging people’ as its mission statement and tries to bring together the brightest local and international minds.

According to festival’s official website, the “EMIFF is now recognized as one of the fastest-growing film festivals in Europe, using international film to shape a creative community, allowing independent filmmakers to feel inspired, to network and thrive in this idyllic Mediterranean island paradise”.

The festival hosts and showcases culturally diverse films from around the world.

The 2020 edition of the event was held on October 23-29.
