In talk with Iran’s 16th Resistance International Film Festival (RIFF), Almashghari underlined the role of the “Resistance Prominent Martyr” section of the RIFF in calling attention to Soleiman, the major general and commander of Iranian Revolutionary Guards' Quds Forces, who was martyred in a US airstrike at Baghdad International Airport.
Commenting on the importance of keeping the memories of martyrs alive, the Lebanese cleric said, “Such people enjoy a highest position in the society”.
He said, “Martyr Soleimani is considered as a model for all goodness, adding that “he was a model for soldiers in obedience and sincerity”.
The 16th Resistance International Film Festival’s "Resistance Prominent Martyr" has been designed to highlight the role of late Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani in awakening and enlightenment of the people of the region and other countries.
The annual Resistance festival is an attempt to commemorate the anniversary of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, which is known as the “Sacred Defense” in Iran. To this end, the event runs in two different stages. The first one took place during the Sacred Defense Week from September 21 to 28 in Tehran.
To mark the Basij week, the Resistance fest will launch the second phase on November 21–27, 2020.
Presided by Mahdi Azimi-Mirabadi, the second part of the festival is covering ‘Main Competition’, ‘Resistance Prominent Martyr - Special Section’, ‘Best Film Competition in Absolute Sense’ and ‘Narrations of Pen - Scriptwriting Competition’.
