‘Crab’ to vie in ZINEBI filmfest

Iranian animation ‘Crab’ is slated to vie at the Bilbao International Festival of Documentary and Short Films (ZINEBI) in Spain.

The short animated pieced directed by Shiva Sadeq-Asadi, will have its ninth international screening at the 62nd edition of the event currently underway from November 13-20, 2020.

‘Crab’, which has been produced by Iran’s Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, is about a reserved and isolated schoolboy who is a theater enthusiast.

Regardless of his emotional situation, he wishes to play a role in the theater group of his school. But, the only part offered to him is the role of a crab.

The film has already taken part in a number of global events, including the Ottawa Int’l Animation Fest in Canada, the Countryside Animafest Cyprus film festival and the Shanghai Int’l filmfest in China.

As a filmmaker, Sadeq-Asadi has already made a name for her award-winning short ‘Manned & Macho’ which has been showcased and awarded at various global film events in Russia, South Korea, Italy, Australia, the US and Ukraine.

ZINEBI, also known as the Bilbao International Festival of Documentary and Short Films, is an annual international film festival that has been held in Bilbao since 1959. It is dedicated to documentary, animations and other short film forms.
