RIFF launches with honoring Commander Qassem Soleimani

The 16th Resistance Int’l filmfest starts with paying tribute to martyr Qassem Soleimani.

The 16th edition of the Resistance International Film Festival (RIFF) has been opened with paying tribute to martyr Qassem Soleimani.

The gala was launched on Saturday in the southern Iranian city of Kerman.

A group of the organizers and filmmakers gathered at the grave of Soleimani in his hometown to commemorate the commander of the IRGC Quds Force who was assassinated during the US airstrike in Baghdad in January.

After his martyrdom, Soleimani has become the subject of several films, theatrical productions and festival programs.

Slated for November 21-27 to celebrate the Basij Week, this is the second part of the festival.

The second part includes Main Competition section, Resistance Prominent Martyr - special section, Best Film Competition in Absolute Sense section, and Narrations of Pen - Scriptwriting Competition section.

The first part of the 16th RIFF, comprising Health Defenders and Festival of Festivals sections, was held during the Sacred Defense Week on September 21-27.

The RIFF, one of the most prestigious international film festivals in Iran, is dedicated to productions on wars and the repercussions of armed conflicts in the world.

It also puts a spotlight on the resistance of the Palestinian people against the Zionist regime and Daesh and their terrorist attacks in the region, as well as the world’s tyrants and their backing of Daesh.
